Loaded Longboards Tesseract DECK - Tesseract: L : 39" WB: 24.5" - 26" Close your eyes. Imagine “seeing” all six sides of a cube simultaneously. Ancient mystics used this as a meditation technique. They claim it’s doable. Our standard methods of perceiving the world around us limit our perspective in a very literal sense. Just because you have two eyes and see in three projected dimensions doesn’t mean your imagination needs to work the same way. The name Tesseract, referring to a 4-dimensional hypercube, is a challenge to go beyond self- and externally-imposed perspectives. The board is designed to be versatile, to blend existing skate genres, and to be a vehicle with which to explore beyond what has already been established. How we see should not limit what we see. Two layers of custom fiberglass/epoxy skins sandwich two vertically-laminated bamboo cores to create a stiff yet light and damp structure. Laminated to the bottom of the board is a layer of cork which provides vibration damping and (as we learned to our surprise during testing) a significant level of durability. The granular, non-directional structure of the cork helps prevent abrasive damage from propagating (in contrast to a traditional wood or bamboo veneer with long, oriented fibers). The tessellated pattern in the cork is generated in 4-dimensional space and can only be fully understood if you lick it. The 3.5° wedging angle of the Tesseract allows for a wide range of interesting hardware configurations. We find that a truck with a lower kingpin angle (below 45°) works synergistically with the wedging angle to provide a versatile balance of lean and turn with a low ride height. A truck with a higher kingpin angle (above 45°) works best with a soft 3-4° wedged riser to simultaneously preserve the steering geometry and damp vibrations. Cast Trucks Paris 180mm (43°) A lively and responsive truck with a slightly more gentle turn and more lean than the 50° Paris 180. Complements the Tesseract’s shorter wheelbase range nicely. Recommended setups: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations) or thin rubber shock pad (for extra vibration damping and to produce a ~47° effective kingpin angle). Caliber 10″ (44°) Offers good stability at speed, comfortable lean for standup slides (without getting sloppy), and a relatively short axle-to-axle wheelbase for easier ollies. Recommended setups: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations) or thin rubber shock pad (for extra vibration damping and to produce a ~48° effective kingpin angle). Paris 180mm (50°) A lively, responsive, and quick turning truck. An excellent choice for carving, dancing, freestyle, moderate speed freeride, or technical downhill. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations). Caliber 10″ (50°) A more restrictive bushing seat and zero rake make the 50 Caliber less lively but more stable at higher speeds than the Paris. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations). Precision Trucks Pretty Noise Lab (PNL) Strummer 180mm (47°) A well balanced and versatile truck. Very smooth turning articulation (due to the ball pivot and self-lubricating pivot cups) and high lean potential (due to the less restrictive bushing seat). Three-way adjustable baseplate provides versatility in tuning your axle-to-axle wheelbase. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations). Caliber Precision 10″ (44°) Similar geometry to the cast Calibers but with a more restrictive bushing seat and less restrictive kingpin cutout on the hanger, resulting in more turning resistance but more potential lean. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations) or a thin rubber shock pad (for more agility). Aera 178mm (46°) A very fluid and leany truck, due to the very shallow and non-restrictive bushing seat. Positive offset between the pivot and axle centerline provides good turning response while the lower kingpin angle keeps things steady at speed. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations) or a thin rubber shock pad (for more agility). Ronin 174mm (40°) A secondary support pin extending from the baseplate helps reduce pre-compression of the bottom bushing and provide suspension. A very free-leaning truck with lots of traction and stability for downhill riding. Recommended setup: soft 3-4° wedged riser (to preserve the natural kingpin angle and damp vibrations) or a thin rubber shock pad (for more agility); high-rebound bushings. Price is for Deck Only!
